OK, this is getting on my nerves like none other!!!!!! this is hte 3rd time i've had to rewrite this blog becuase of random things that erase it before I'm done. First time was my sister who just got on the computer and signed me off w/o even asking me. The 2nd time was someone's random link that I didn't really want to see that erased it... so now, unfortunately those who wish to read this, will get the very VERY condensed version... So I was talking about Urban Plunge ( stay on streets for 2 days with only $2.50) We left on friday afternoon at 5 and stayed on the streets of Capitol Hill until 10pm roughly. So we loitered and went to restaurants to ask them to "donate food" to us students on a project to help people... and out of 4 restuarants, nothing came up. Then we hit gold when we went to Dick's Drivethrough (good burger place), who gave us each a burger and 2 fries to split among us... Good stuff... heheheh, only group to get that. That night was the most HORRIBLE night of the weekend... The stupid teacher told us to all be lights out and quiet by about 12... but he ended up staying up with a group in a separate group talking and laughing until like 2am... @_@ talk about unresponsible. Then at 3am some dumbass from the other room decides to go outside and bang on our window to wake everyone up. (what the hell is going on was what everyone was thinking) eventually he stopped after 5 min and we tried to get whatever sleep we could until we had to wake up at 7:30. On Saturday, we were sent to T.T. Minor Elementary to do community service. Basically cleaning every spot in the school and weeding. Got to fit in some basketball with a ball we found on the school grounds and that was the most fun. Then we went back to the church to do more community service there by cleaning their place up. At about 3pm we were cut loose till 10pm again on the streets. Almost everyone on the trip came together and went to Volunteer Park since it was so nice. Two people chipped in a quarter each and got a frisbee and we played various frisbee games the rest of the afternoon under the nice early summer sun... I can't imagine anything better, except if there were more girls playing and lemonade on tap... aw yea...... ok enuf of dreaming, since it wasn't supposed to be fun. Later I bought some packets of ramen, which is probably the best deal you can get when you're hungry (4 for $1). And went to bed. That night went better probably because everyone was tired. Woke up again and left the place around 7:45 and were loose until 4pm. Ate a ramen for brunch and everyone went to volunteer park again for the rest of the time to waste time. I went into the Asian Art Museum in the park, it was ok, nothing really special. All the chinese bowls and such looked like they came outta my kitchen. We went back at 4pm and teh teacher had got us pizzas, Dick's burgers, and some stir-fry veges. O geez... you shoulda seen everyone rush for those burgers when the teacher said "you may have one burger each and only one slice if you get 1 burger............" PHOOOOOMMMMM and all the burgers were swiped, gobbled, and devoured. We all ate a lot since all we had been living on the entire weekend was ramen and bread basically. Overall, this was a pretty good experience I'd have to say. I got to know a lot of people that I do not normally talk to and spend quality time with some that I already do know. Living with hardly any money wasn't very new to me since I hardly ever spend money anyway. Lack of food was probably my biggest problem. I was starving almost the entire weekend. I could go on to list some "morals" and such that I learned, but I believe that each person should go through suffering themselves to learn what I would say in a line or two. I hope that everyone gets this experience one day, not so that they have to suffer, but they can learn the value of everything around them that they are privilaged to have. Well I've rambled enough, I got other stuff to say, but it'll have to wait till another day. Next topic... Why I'm starting to hate the NBA and really hate the referees...
