yet another loop...

And so karma takes it's toll again... This start to the summer has been most unfortunate. Not only did I sprain my ankle limiting everything I do, find that my summer quarter is a lot more work than I bargained for even though it's still 13 credits, probably not going to get to working even at QFC for at least another 2-3 weeks, haven't been able to hang out with friends as much as I'd like... and the list goes on. Not to mention, the weather's been crappy as heck since spring quarter ended, which just so happen to correlate with my bad luck. I've also fallen into a bad habit of not getting enough sleep again and that is raising my irritability lately so I'm sorry to anyone I run across that gets the cold front from me. I've got some things to sort out in my mind, pray for my ankle to heal faster, and schedules to plan.

Other than that, I guess I'm kinda taking a lazy path this summer of doing "not much." Well, I'm sure many of you could've guessed that... u_u;;

Ok, I gots a question for all the random people out there. So nowadays, people don't really have "best friends" anymore. Rather, they have lots of "good friends" as to not pick one person out of the crowd and leave the rest behind. Which puts everyone on a level playing field and more equal making the whole world all fine and happy. But what if a person needs someone to be something more? What if a person needs that certain someone to talk about all the random junk about, complain about their bf/gf, and just rely on to lend some good, sound advice? Where does a person go about to find someone they can trust? Should a person just pick whoever they think is the best-natured out of all their friends to be the one? What if that person doesn't want to listen to you all the time; then where is one to go. So ultimately, I guess what I'm trying to get at, is how have you people developed the strongest relationships you have in your life now. The bonds that are stronger than... not blood, but the "just friends" bar. Leave it in comment form, or chat with me sometime. =) I always like friendly company.

heh, heh... don't mess...

What`s your pimped out ghetto thug weapon?

The Car Key

You're in to brutally ripping apart people's faces with keys while they're down. No one knows how you got the key, cuz you're too much of a thug to own anything you'd need a key for. Oh well.

2 more movies

With my suddenly immense amount of time to do stuff that isn't active due to my lame ankle, I've already seen 3 other movies... House of Fury (HK), Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and The Longest Yard.

House of Fury is a crappy movie, don't bother.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith is about two secret agents who do not know each other's secret identity before marrying each other. After 5-6 years, their respective companies set each other up against each other since they were found to have been living together. The outcome? Some pretty good action. I knew this movie wasn't going to blow me away when I went to watch it. To my surprise however, the movie came out pretty satisfying, until the end. The action and humor between the married couple keeps viewers hooked on the movie until the very last scene where they get blown away by the cheesiness. Yeah the ending wasn't the greatest, but the road taken was a pretty good one. Angelina Jolie heats up the screen with her hotness and Brad Pitt is more than enough man to handle the entire movie. Both huge egos work well against each other as neither really overly dominates too much over the other. Humor is sometimes forced, which doesn't work nearly as well as it could have, but other times it works very well. The one scene that I remember very well was when both spouses are racing each other home. How many of us have experienced having to race home before the other? How many of the guys actually are nice enough to let their woman beat them? There are unfortunately countless plot holes everywhere throughout the movie, but watching a movie like this, there really isn't a need for plot. It's all just about blowing stuff up and watching Angelina Jolie work her stuff. If I really had to rip a new one in this movie, it would be in the ending. The end fight scene was cheesier than a 555 deal of 3 cheese pizzas from Dominos. And then even after the fight scene, the movie just kinda ends. Everything "just happens to work out." Leaves me very disappointed even after all the pretty action scenes. Anyway, to rate this movie... I'd give it 6/10.

The Longest Yard (2005) is a remake of an old 70's movie where Adam Sandler takes up the role that Burt Reynolds played in the previous movie as former football superstar Paul Crewe who gets stuck in prison having to turn a group of cons into a decent football team that will taken on the prison guards team. I got quite a few laughs out of this one but unfortunately I couldn't tell how the rest of the masses really thought because there was a whopping 6 people total in the entire theatre. I really hope that that was only because the movie has been out for 2-3 weeks already. This movie really hit the spot for me because I hadn't seen a feel-good/route-for-the-underdog movie in a while and this was perfect. The movie itself however, wasn't nearly perfect, but worked. Adam Sandler is showing that he can grow into a different actor from his older roles, albeit not a great one, and show versatility with his sometimes funny but monotonous character. Almost every single one of Chris Rocks jokes except for maybe 2 can be found in trailers of the movie, which was very unfortunate in my opinion. I was hoping that he would bring more humor but no. Overall, yes the movie was all good and fun, but really lacked any true emotion. You didn't really feel anything for the characters, mainly because of the spotty acting job turned in by everyone, so after the movie, all you really get is a few good laughs. You didn't really care too much about this person's death, or whether or not someone showed up in the game, because you pretty much knew what was going to happen. This movie just takes the cookie-cutter plot of an underdog story, throw in a dilemma for the main protagonist, add a happy ending and a waterboy and you got yourself another feel good comedy, for guys. So... for rating, I'ma give this one a 6.5/10.

summer... *sigh*

As glad and ecstatic I am about summer and the end of a long (but fun) 16 credit quarter... I'm in pain. Much pain that struck at about the same time last year... I twisted my bloody ankle again playing basketball >_< This time the right one... (twisted left one last year) This year however... I think it's a worse sprain, so I'm definately out of commission for what I think should be about a month... Definately no more sports T_T; and I'm gonna try to be able to walk with minimal limp-age as soon as possible. I've learned that the best way for a sprained ankle to heal is to follow these guidelines:

R.I.C.E. (i swear i didn't make this acronym up, I dunno if the guy who did was asian.)

R = Rest

I = Ice it

C = Compression; meaning wrapping it

E = Elevation; to keep from too much blood from flowing, which I definately need to get rid of... my foot is as swollen like a blimp.

Other than that, I just gotta pray that it heals fast so I can get out again and enjoy what I have of this summer. I hope to see everyone I can this summer and hang out with you all. =)

2 new movies seen!

Today we'll take a look at the 2 following films... Moulin Rouge and Windstruck(Korean).

I had always wanted to see Moulin Rouge because I usually heard that it was either a great movie, or that they didn't like it all. Why did I want to see a movie with such mixed reactions? I didn't trust the people who said it was bad. HA! Anyway... I finally seized an opportunity to watch it at my friend's dorm room today. I must say that I found myself pretty satisfied (as well as a little dizzy from the beginning of the movie). In the early 1900's, Christian(Ewan Mcgregor) is one of those precursors to what we call today starving artists who create art in the name of freedom, truth, life, and especially love. He stumbles upon a makeshift crew of wanna-be big time actors/playwrites and they together try to make a play to get into the business at the Moulin Rouge, the most jumpin' club of the time. Here they meet Satine (Nicole Kidman) a high end performer/prostitiute who is the envy of all men at Moulin Rouge, but our crew of wanna-bes think she's their ticket to making it big. Conversely on the other end, the ring leader Harold (Jim Broadbent) and Satine are expecting Satine to impress The Duke of our French town, so that Satine can become a star actress. Yeah, I think I'm starting to convolute the plot because it becomes very, very mixed up like a bag of different colored yarn, just like the way it was filmed. CAUTION: be wary in the beginning of fast moving objects and rapid change of colors. I found the film was shot extremely well and visually it was actually a nice change of scenary. Ok, so as I got sidetracked, I think I'll just leave the rest of the plot up for you to see because I know how interesting it must sound now. (I really don't do some good movies justice; especially when I'm half-awake at 2am) The acting was superb as to be expected from academy award winners such as Ewan Mcgregor and Nicole Kidman. Their love can be felt off the screen and the ending scene is very touching. The only rip I had with this movie, and it might be more major for other people but for me I eventually got used to it and disregarded it; anyway, the use of pop music throughout the movie kinda threw me off as well as the mood of the movie I had originally expected after the introduction. The use of some lyrics was good and the singing throughout the movie was great, but the few songs just thrown in just didn't feel right. If you can put that aside though, (it can get rather annoying but it goes away late in the movie) then this film is a great watch. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves romances and musicals. I'm sure there are hardcore Ewan Mcgregor fans who have already watched it, purely because he was in the movie.

Moving onto Windstruck, the supposed prequel that came after the hit movie My Sassy Girl. I say supposed because the end of the movie, which is supposed to serve as the platform (no pun intended) that leads into My Sassy Girl seems like it was written into the script when the director finished directing the rest of the movie and then realized "Crap, this is a prequel to My Sassy Girl isn't it?" The movie starts off as we meet both characters Gyeong-jin (the girl that's played by the same girl from My Sassy Girl) and Myung-woo in a thief chase on foot. Gyeong-jin is a firey cop (pretty much same character from before) who just seems to be going through life reckless abandon. Myung-woo is a softspoken HS physics teacher who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and as fate would have it, these two just kinda were brought together. The first half was enjoyable, but in the second half... I started getting a little confused and taken away from the movie. Meaning I started not liking it... random people died at random times, people started going crazy, and things that are supposed to connect with My Sassy Girl, don't. It's not all bad though, the characters were superb in their roles and many scenes were very well played out. Unfortunately, the sum of the parts did not add up to a good movie. My Sassy Girl focused a lot on how love could be found in the least expected places and sometimes fate has a funny way of working out a certain way. This movie seemed to tell more about how love sometimes hurts and how hope can be found even after love is lost (in albeit strange ways...). I'm pretty sure this movie was simply a ploy to make money off the huge fanbase that came from My Sassy Girl. Anyway, I'd recommend this movie for anyone who's a fan of the actress, which I was and why I saw the movie, but I'm not sure if I'd recommend this movie to the people who wanted to see a prequel to My Sassy Girl... Doing so would ruin the goodness that came from My Sassy Girl. This movie does work find as a stand alone, so you don't have to see My Sassy Girl. Although I would only recommend seeing My Sassy Girl instead. I think I've used My Sassy Girl in this paragraph more than like 3x the times I've mentioned Windstruck in the entire blog... Yea, tells you something doesn't it?

land of the dead's got nothing on this

How's this for scary and out of this world...

http://65.127.124.62/south_asia/4483241.stm.htm

Talk about something straight out of a movie.

I'm actually really intrigued in learning what they can find out about this virus and how it does what it does.

We've heard about this kind of zombism before and it's been made into movies, but it's gotta make one wonder... what other strange and bizaar things are out there that haven't been released in the news? I mean of course it's possible for people to withold information about something terrible and justify it by saying it's better that nobody knows, but things never stay buried. Eventually in the future, everything will be exposed and how prepared we are for it will determine it's effect.

*sigh* Thinking about how much our world has slowed down in terms of new inventions has got me thinking that we're gonna hit another all-time low period sometime in the future. This is gonna sound waaayyy out there and completely irrelevant, but this is what I think... People can't have fun forever. Sure we're enjoying ourselves now in this 21st century, but it's all gotta come to a stop sometime soon. It's happened in the past, and it'll happen again. You can't always ride at the top of the wave. Other WW's will happen, more depressions, and other terrorists will come in to crash the party. I hate to think this, but this Iraq war may have helped our country. To help us wake up from our 90's euphoric dream. Everything was going well, too well. Yes, Clinton was a great president, vastly making the 90's a truly great time to live. But as time went on, something drastic was bound to happen. 9/11 & Iraq war... But I'm not sure that's gonna be the end. There are still awfully lot of people out in the world that hates the US for a variety of reasons. We're too powerful. We have too much control. We have too many weapons. Sure we take pride in our success, but now people are starting to get jealous... What does the star player do when the rest of the players start despising him? He can try to put the team on his shoulders and make great friendships... but that's only a Hollywood movie. In reality he'll probably be overthrown and someone else will step in as captain. But anyway, my point is that the future is bleak. Yeah, I'm pessimistic like that. What can I say, my parents have always been the paranoid type and some of it rubbed off on me unfortunately. I wish I could say that I wasn't concerned with anything at all and that I'm just gonna live life like I don't care, but I really do. Life is too short to act oblivously w/o any direction. Sure you'll get somewhere, but did you really reach a goal? Or was it just a fun journey? For me, I'd like a fun journey to get the the destination I want to get to. It'll make getting there that much sweeter.

I know my tandem of random stuff was very convoluted and full of random ass opinions, but once I started going, I just started going off on wild tangents. Maybe in a real conversation someone can keep me focused on a topic longer than a few sentences.

the article is fake guys =P
