the gamer in me... i too am a nerd deep down
So this summer I've kinda gone back to my old, but not so good gaming habits. No, I'm not sucked into WoW (world of warcraft) or other fads. I've just been playing old games and random ones that people probably have never even heard of. But the gaming has kinda always come at bad timing throughout the summer. I bought Xenosaga, an rpg, off ebay about the end of spring quarter. It ended up not coming until the day before summer school started =/ I recently got a game called Neo Contra, also off ebay, and it just came in the mail today =/ Not much gaming time before school starts.
I'll give my 2 cents on these 2 games. Xenosaga, is pretty damn boring. The beginning didn't hook me into wanting to play more, so after a few hours, I just didn't play it anymore. The fight system is nothing special. The graphics are pretty good but that's not enough to keep me playing. Neo Contra on the other hand, is a thing of beauty. Everyone who remembers the old school 2D contra for SNES like I do, will probably find this game to be just as satisfying. The graphics are purdy as heck and classic run and gun games always deliver. One thing that I haven't tried yet is playing with a partner. I'm looking forward to 2 player fun. Call me up if you wanna try this game out =)
Reflecting on summer, and the goals I set out for myself earlier, I guess I didn't accomplish as many of those goals as I had hoped to do. Lets see...
- Go to the IMA... at least 3 more times, lol check
- Read Angels and Demons I'm going to finish it... half way through... maybe? >_<
- Try out a new restaurant Hrmm... gotta think... O, I went to Thai Tom's for first time... I know there's another but I don't remember =/
- Watch the following movies: Wedding Crashers, 40 y/o Virgin, Brother's Grim, the Aristocrat's... I can't think of any more... It didn't happen =/
- Try to get in touch with a few people that I haven't talked/seen for a long time... Did with some people, but not nearly as many as I had hoped.
- Ball into the nite like the world's gonna end tomorrow... Man, I think I have a callus on my foot from yesterday... Rest up and wake up tomorrow suited up for another day =D
So yeah, I still have a few days, less than a week. I have to make the most of these last few days until school starts. Cuz when school starts, it's all gone... Alright, back to gaming, lol
for the gamers out there
Why? I don't know why. The idea sounds interesting, but the design... I don't know, I'll just leave the rest to you.
Nintendo's new controller
aw geez... only at qfc...
Conversation between a courtesy clerk and I, this late night at the Q:
As I begin ringing up a customer:
Me: Guess how heavy this watermelon is going to be? the watermelon is pretty hefty in size)
Him: uhh... 9 pounds?
Me: 9 pounds? Are you kidding, this thing is huge. (after I weigh it) It was 19 pounds.
Him: That doesn't look like 19 pounds at all. It looks like it would weigh the same as my head.
Me: ... How heavy do you think your head is?
Him: Like, 12 pounds or something.
Me: ... You do know that that watermelon is full of water, while your head has a lot more other tissue.
Him: It's not just water... it's got melon too.
Me: ... ::shakes head in shame at the fact that this kid currently goes to the same high school I once resided in:: (then I just start laughing at him)
*sigh* only at QFC...
Life as a cashier...
I've been meaning to write a more detailed blog about my work, but I kinda lacked enough material until now. Although, in my current state I dunno how much I will remember.
How bothersome: When you open up your hand for change, but for some reason they always have to put it on the flat surface in front of you, which forces you try and pick it up at the most difficult times, such as when you have just cut your nails... arg... >_<
How monotonous: Every friggin day I swear I say "Advantage Card?" or "Paper or plastic?" and "Signature/autograph please" at least 200 times. I know this comes with the job, but sometimes people are just so oblivious. I mean, I know you come in everyday I do, but you still forget the procedure. You hold up the line and make me ask you again and again. Gosh people wake up! =P
How tiresome: Our store has been understaffed like crazy for this entire summer. They just hired a few more courtesy clerks (baggers) but we still need a lot more workers. I usually have a closing shift (not really closing since qfc is 24hrs, but the one that ends before night crew gets in) so I get stuck with stuff that other people don't get done at the end of the day. I really don't understand what is taking my manager so friggin long just to hire a few more kids do the work. I'm sure there are tons of poor teenagers with rich parents who don't give them money, itching for a job...
Sometimes kids can be really weird when they're going through the checkstand. One time, this happened twice, where I was checking these kids and they initially didn't have enough money, but manage to dig out enough change out of their shoe... That's just gross. Please people invest in a decent wallet to use instead of your foot fungus infested shoes to store money.
Another bothersome tidbit... when people crumble up their bills and hand em to you in a ball. Why..... do you really want to slow down the whole process by making me try to dissect what bills you give me in that disgustingly sweaty, crumpled mess of paper? Just take the time to keep your money in order and make the world a better place. I can't believe how dirty money is sometimes.
Moving on to some of the better things in life... I finally went to the IMA yesterday for the first time this summer!!! XD I was soo happy to finally go and play some ball and work out. I told myself at the beginning of the summer to make use of the IMA more during the summer but I managed to never use it during summer quarter... Unfortunately, there weren't that many people playing basketball then so I couldn't get a really good game until later. I will have to head back there again before fall quarter starts when I won't have any time... If you wanna go to, give me call!!! I'd love to find some people to go there with! Make me do exercise, lol.
OK, I need to make some goals for the rest of the summer before school starts...Hrmmm, thinking...
- Go to the IMA... at least 3 more times, lol
- Read Angels and Demons
- Try out a new restaurant
- Watch the following movies: Wedding Crashers, 40 y/o Virgin, Brother's Grim, the Aristocrat's... I can't think of any more...

I grow weary! To the kitchen!! =D
